2022 Honda Odyssey Vacuum Cleaner FAQs
The Honda Odyssey has long been known for including unique, creative features that often go a surprisingly long way to increasing the convenience of family life. One of the favorites in this realm has been the vacuum cleaner, or HondaVac, a built-in contraption that could be used to easily vacuum out the rear seats of the favorite minivan.
While the 2022 Honda Odyssey is already here for customers to enjoy, some have been shocked when we at Pohanka Honda admit to them that this overall-excellent, recently redesigned incarnation of the beloved machine does not offer a vacuum cleaner. This is then inevitably followed by the question: why does the 2022 Honda Odyssey not offer a vacuum?
The 2022 Honda Odyssey does not offer an available vacuum cleaner because of a supplier issue. Apparently, Honda ran out of the vacuum cleaners and was unable to obtain more from Shop-Vac Corporation, the company that makes them. Not much more is currently known about this issue.
Does the 2021 Honda Odyssey have a vacuum?
Yes, the 2021 Honda Odyssey does offer a vacuum on the top-tier Elite trim.
Why did Honda already release the 2022 Odyssey?
Because the 2021 Honda Odyssey did offer the vacuum cleaner, Honda fast-tracked the release of the 2022 Honda Odyssey to set the model apart as the incarnation without the vacuum cleaner option. That’s why the 2022 Honda Odyssey is already available in dealerships and for order from the Honda website, about half a year earlier than it typically would be. The lack of a vacuum appears to be the only difference between the 2021 and 2022 Honda Odyssey models, besides the addition of one new color option.
Ever Wonder: Are minivans expensive to insure?
Will Honda bring the vacuum feature back to the Odyssey in the future?
Honda isn’t completely quitting on the idea of a built-in vacuum, but it hasn’t yet settled on a new supplier. As such, customers passionate about the HondaVac will have to either buy an earlier-year Honda Odyssey or wait for a possible future model with the feature.
It’s also feasible that Honda won’t reinstate the feature, as, though it got a lot of publicity, the vacuum was pretty niche. It was only available on the top-tier Elite trim. Only 20% of Odyssey sales since 2014 have been of that trim level, and its unclear how many of those drivers also opted for the available vacuum.
